Monteverde Cloud forest Tour 
You will hike through the well-marked-trails, waterfalls, rivers, and the observation area of the park. If you are lucky you might spot a "Quetzal", one of the most beautiful birds in the world. You will also see an amazing variety of flora and fauna in this tour.   A must for all visitors.

Santa Elena Reserve tour
In this Cloud Forest Reserve you will have more opportunity to see birds.  You could also see the wonderful Arenal Volcano and the Guanacaste lowlands .  This is a shared tour with no more than nine people.

Sendero Tranquilo  guided walk
Sendero Tranquilo is part of 210 acre private wildlife preserve owned and protected by the Lowther family for over 40 years.  It is bordered by the Monteverde Cloud Forest Preserve and the Guacimal River. The property covers both lower wet montane and premontane wet virgin cloud forest.  This  area is critical to many altitudinal migrants including the resplendent quetzal and the Three-Wattled Bellbird, who  find food, nesting sites and a save heaven on this land.   Morning, afternoon  and  night hikes schedule.

Sky Trek / Sky Tram
Sky Tram is a guided tour and you can have the opportunity of intermediate the ride with short stops to observe the cloud  forest biodiversity, the Arenal, Tenorio, Miravalles and Orosi volcanoes, the Nicoya Gulf, and the Guanacaste plain  if the weather allows it.    It  is a high technology cableway that  includes a ride of 1600 meters (both ways) with altitudes between 1400 and 1600 m.a.s.l. The Sky Tram will lead you up to the Continental Divide and to one of the highest mountains of Monteverde.

The gondolas have been adapted even for people with some disability.

Sky Trek tour starts with the Sky Tram that will lead you up to the Continental Divide. The sky trek is a system of zip lines ranging from mountain to mountain, which together have a distance of 2.5 miles of linear cable. It gives  you the opportunity to fly through a cable and have a unique experience of adventure and adrenaline at speeds up to 40 miles per hour with distances ranging up to 2500 feet and heights of 524 feet. In addition the tour offers 5 observation towers that exceed the cloud forest treetops providing a panoramic view. All with total security and in an innovative braking system.

Sky Trek is a complementary tour of Sky Tram it can’t be sold separately.

Minimum age for the sky trek:  8 yrs. old
Restrictions: People over 100 kilograms weight (217 pounds) must be evaluated by our technical staff (according to his/her height and physical condition) our staff will determine if they can take the tour.

Snake tour
This guided tour is an appropriated place to learn about Costa Rica’s amphibians and reptiles.

The facilities are ample and modern; to offer a cozy, extensive atmosphere and adapted temperature for the animals in captivity and at the same time provide more security to our visitors.

You can appreciate over 40 species including venomous and non-venomous snakes, poisonous frogs, toads, lizards and turtles.

Frog Pond tour
This is a shared tour at the Butterfly Farm or Frog Pond. Prepare yourself to see approximately 30 different species of amphibians of Costa Rica. Learn each of these specimen's particular natural history from a specialized guide.

Don Juan coffee tour
You will learn all the stages, starting with the plant, the harvest, drying, toasting and grinding of the bean, then, try a cup of the beverage we enjoy every morning and during the day . This is the beverage we find anywhere and everywhere. Always tasty, always comforting.

Duration: 2 ½ hours
Regular tour schedule: 7:40am, 9:40am, 12:40pm, 2:40pm.
Private tour schedule: Only at 9:00am, 11:00am, 12:00md and 2:00pm

Sugar Mill typical tour
This unforgettable experience will allow you to meet and share with a peasant family and learn from our culture. You will be able to learn about the process of the sugar cane until you get the sugar on your table. You will also see banana, coffee process and other plantations.

Duration: 3 hours.

Guided tree top walkways, Butterfly Farm, Hummingbird Garden
This guided Selvatura's Treetop Walkways tour is a 1.9 mile (approximately 3kms)trail that crosses through the cloud forest, in which our visitors will walk through eight different bridges from various lengths ranging between 150 feet ( 50 meters ) up to 510 feet ( 170 meters ) and altitudes ranging between 36 feet ( 12 meters ) up to 180 feet ( 60 meters ). Each of the bridges feature a five foot width  and also a capacity of up to 80 people per bridge. The treetop walkways are suitable for people of all ages and physical condition.

You will also enjoy of  a  guided walk inside one of the world's largest live butterfly exhibitions with an area of over 29,000 square feet ( 2,700 square meters). It gathers more than 20 species of butterflies.

At the Butterfly Farm you will see  a  community that gathers more than 20 species of butterflies. Learn about their life cycle, their special abilities and behaviors that have helped them evolve into each different species. Enjoy the guided walk inside one of the world's largest live butterfly exhibitions with an area of over 29,000 square feet ( 2,700 square meters).

The Hummingbird Garden is a non guided  tour  that offers you over 100 beautiful hummingbirds flying cheerfully around you! More than 14 species of hummingbirds will amaze you with their incredible aerial maneuvers and bright lively colors. Definitively a photography fan's treat!

Butterfly Farm
The tour includes a guided trip through four greenhouses which house the many species of butterflies as well as a short lesson in the nature center which showcases a wide range of insects and arachnids in live exhibits. Butterflies are most active while it is sunny and warm so these greenhouses ensure that you can see butterflies year round no matter what the weather. Another advantage of the Monteverde Butterfly Garden is the diversity of species. These fragile creatures take extreme care to handle and grow. Every species feeds on a different plant and some of the caterpillars will eat each other if there is not enough food. All the butterflies here were bred and raised on the premises.

Horseback ride tour
Enjoy a wonderful horseback ride tour through different sceneries of Santa Elena area. You´ll pass through some secondary forest as well as open fields. Enjoy the beautiful mountain views, as well as the fresh clean mountain air!

Original canopy tour
The tour is located in a private reserve behind the Cloud Forest Lodge a short drive up the hill behind the Hotel Sapo Dorado a few minutes drive from downtown Santa Elena. It starts with a short, guided hike through the private 70-acre reserve of the Cloud Forest. The first part of the tour will take you through primary (old growth) and secondary (new growth) forest. As you fly through the treetops listen closely for the vast variety of birds that can be seen and heard throughout the preserve. Then, just when you think you have become one with the canopy we get your blood pumping with a drop back down to the forest floor. From the ground you leave again for the cloud forest canopy and the tour ends with an exhilarating rappel down from “Scary Tree”.

Restrictions: There is a weight restriction of about 265 pounds although the weight is more a function of body shape than weight itself.

100%  Adventure (ATV  tour  & horseback ride combo)
This exciting tour starts in our facilities located only 3 kilometer a way of the town of Santa Elena in Monteverde.  Once you are equipped (helmets, rain coats, safety equipment) your guide will take you to the practice area for instructions and safety chat about the ATV.  Then, you will drive your ATV on a practice course to determine your driving skills.  If the guides feel that you cannot drive the ATV properly it is the option of the guide to have you drive with him instead alone.  You will go among private trails with amazing landscapes and depending on the weather conditions and the participant’s skills the trails may vary.

Minimum age:  16 years old with driver’s license.  Under this age must be accompanied by an adult. 

The horseback riding starts by familiarizing with the horses and then the bilingual guide will teach the adequate techniques to control the horse along the tour.  We will depart and go through private trails and public gravel roads for approximately the next 2 hours.  Along the tour you’ll be able to observe the abundant flora and fauna, which is native to this region. There is also an opportunity based on the weather conditions to see the gulf of Nicoya and also on a clear day you can watch the Arenal lake and volcano at a distance.

100% Adventure (canopy +ATV tour)
The day begins with the canopy tour located 3 kilometers away from the main town of Santa Elena in Monteverde.  After the safety chat and equipment instructions, you will climb  a spacious metal ladder, which takes you  to the first platform, the guides will check again equipment and provide the necessary information on this cable; the pulley and the safety line will be secured and we’re ready to slide over the top of the trees.

We will have the opportunity to travel along six more cables of different heights and altitudes, before arriving to the “rappel”, were you will fall in to the vacuum helped by a 15 meter vertical rope.  We go back to flying over the forest canopy, passing three more cables which will lead to the “Tarzan swing”, which consists of a swing in the middle of forest reaching a 30 meter height, properly tied from two ropes.  Once you get into the lower platform there is a short 300 meter hike that will take you to a new section of the property with four more cables, including a 700 meter long line.  The final canopy section is the longest and highest, 600 meter long and 80 meter high.

Then you will go do an ATV tour, where you get equipped with (helmets, rain coats, safety equipment) your guide will take you to the practice area for instructions and safety chat about the ATV.  Then, you will drive your ATV on a practice course to determine your driving skills.  If the guides feel that you cannot drive the ATV properly it is the option of the guide to have you drive with him instead alone.  You will go among private trails with amazing landscapes and depending on the weather conditions and the participant’s skills the trails may vary.
