Enjoy a relaxing hike  for a few hours through the tropical rain forest with our highly educated, bilingual naturalists and guides. This hiking tour and natural sanctuary adventure in a bio-diverse reserve is dramatically different in terms of wildlife and plant species.   On your Carara experience, you will spot unforgettable giant red Macaws and extraordinary crocodiles living in the the Tárcoles River ecosystem estuary and adjacent to the Carara Park and it´s protected biological corridor.

Exhibition tour at Butterfly Botanical Gardens & Nature Walk
In this combination tour, you'll hike through the rain forest along 1500 meters of easy access trails, and visit the Butterfly Botanical Gardens,the reptile lagoon exhibition and the aquatic garden  with an experienced nature guide. You will have a chance to spot Howler, Cara Blanca and Titi monkeys as well as 10 different species of butterflies. It will be a learning experience as you will observe the four different stages of metamorphosis (Egg, Larvaem Chrysalis, and Adult Butterfly) and perhaps witness the magical moment when a butterfly first opens its wings and takes flight for the first time.

Rainmaker Reserve River and Canopy Walk
This tour begins with a river walk along the Rio Seco's edge. Hand rails and easy to follow  footpaths along with observation platforms allow you to observe waterfalls.   Continuing up the trails, visitors will come to the Canopy Bridge system.  The six sections total 250 meters, spanning from platforms attached to massive hardwood trees to create the most impressive Canopy Walk in Costa Rica. Rainmaker is home to Morpho butterflies, varieties of birds, the colorful poison dart frog  and thousands of unique plant species. Depending on the time of year, visitors are also afforded sightings of incredible reptiles and other animals.   At the end of the walk a pristine waterfall pool will beckon you to enjoy a refreshing dip.

Naranjo River Rafting tour  class III-IV  (May-December)
The wild and ever-changing Naranjo River White Water Rafting challenge is recommended for physically fit adventure seekers and experienced rafters who are familiar with Class III and IV rapids. The Naranjo River runs from April to December and is a consistently adrenaline-pumping Class III and IV wild ride. This river rafting  trip packs all its punches in a 7 mile ride that keeps your adrenaline level high for several hours.  Water levels can rise rapidly on this Costa Rican river treasure, especially during the rainy season (May-October), which definitely brings the difficulty level up for any experienced rafter.

Savegre River Rafting class II, II and IV 
Our more family-friendly Savegre River provides Class II, III and some rare IV rapids that are more than manageable  in sturdy rafts that accommodate 2 to 6 people comfortably.  Our guides stop at locally known swimming spots and breathtaking waterfalls, if the rafters want a break from paddling, and there is always time to enjoy the abundant variety of wildlife along the river.

On most trips, rafters will observe egrets, osprey, toucans, parrots, kingfishers, cormorants, and many other species local to this protected area of the tropical rain forest.  After a steady 13 mile trip down the river, we wind our way back to the little village of “Silencio” where a gladly awaited hot lunch “Tico Style” and local refreshments are waiting.

Canopy Safari 
Our tour begins with an amazing drive through the rainforest out to our canopy site.  During the ride there are many stops for everyone to learn about the flora and fauna of the area.  The canopy site is located in an area called Paso Real.  Here we have a brand new ranch house with full facilities, located next to a pristine river, this is where we serve a full breakfast or lunch (depending on tour time). A spectacular river is the backdrop for these platforms carefully built in the canopy of the rainforest.  Clients are able to traverse from tree to tree and platform to platform using pulleys on horizontal traverse cables, as they sail through the treetops of the tropical rainforest canopy, and over the trails far below.  Our canopy course consists of 21 platforms, 9 zip lines, 2 repel lines, one suspension bridge, and one "Tarzan swing
